Airline Requirements for Pet Carriers

We here at Paw Prints Shop wanted to take the time to give you a couple of tips for airlplane travel for your pet. We also wanted to provide a list of airline pet carrier requirements.   Most of our pet carriers are airline approved.   But make sure you check with the airline you are traveling on to see what other requirements they may have for your pets safety.  Below are some of the major airline's pet carrier measurement requirements:

Continental: Maximum 22"L x 14"W x 9"H

Delta: Varies per flight Check with Delta

American Airlines: 23"L x 13"W x 9"H

Northwest: 17"L x 12.3"W x 8"H

U.S. Airways: 21"L x 16"W x 8"H hard sided X 10" soft sided

America West: 14"L x 14"W x 9"H (first class) 15"L x 16"W x 10" (coach class)

Southwest Airlines does not accept live animals in the aircraft cabin or cargo compartment other than fully trained service animals accompanying a person with a disability or being delivered to a person with a disability.?>

Traveling Tips for your pet:

The following are some shipping suggestions to ensure your pet's comfort and safety.

·         . Familiarize your pet with the carrier/ kennel to ease the stress of travel.

·
.Keep your pet as calm as possible prior to the flight. Take along a leash and collar for walking your pet prior to departure. Do not place the leash inside the kennel.
·
. Include identification tags with your home address and telephone number, as well as the address and phone number of the person receiving the animal at destination.
·
.  Never send your pet with a muzzle or choke collar on. Both can be dangerous when an animal is alone.
